Finke Desert Race — Day 1

One of Australia’s toughest off-road races, taking competitors 223 km from Alice Springs to Aputula (Finke) before they race the same track back the following day — roughly 446 km of racing across two days.

Red dirt, endless dust, insane machines and an atmosphere you have to experience for yourself.

Survive the track, own the myth.

Finke Desert Race — Day 2

Day 2 at Finke. The competitors turn around at Aputula (Finke) and take on another brutal 223 km back to Alice Springs, completing roughly 446 km across the two-day race.

This year's event was also marked by tragedy following the death of rider Matthew Bielefeld in a crash during Day 1. Competitors observed a minute's silence before racing resumed on Day 2.

RIP Matthew Bielefeld. 🕊️ Our thoughts are with his family, friends and the Finke community.

    Coward Springs

An outback oasis along the Oodnadatta Track, Coward Springs is an old Ghan railway site surrounded by desert, history and date palms. The highlight is the 29°C artesian spa — which sounds lovely until you realise it’s basically a tiny warm bath in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

Still, after hundreds of kilometres of dust and corrugations, you’ll get in it and you’ll bloody love it.

    Oodnadatta Track

One of Australia’s iconic outback adventures, the Oodnadatta Track stretches over 600 km from Marree to Marla through the heart of South Australia. Following an ancient Aboriginal trading route and later the path of the Overland Telegraph and Old Ghan railway, it’s packed with history, endless dirt roads, remote towns, mound springs and classic outback scenery.

Red dirt, big skies and proper outback Australia.

    Coober Pedy

Welcome to Coober Pedy — where it got so hot the entire town said, “Yeah nah, we live underground now.”

The opal capital of the world, where everyone’s digging for millions and the landscape looks like Mars got attacked by termites with excavators.
